What are the steps for progressing from one Membership category to another?
There are five levels of membership:
Student
Graduate
Associate
Senior Associate
Fellow
Each level has requirements to be satisfied for membership at that grade. If you start at a level, you can move up over time as you take AIBS Courses and/or gain more work experience.
To find out which membership level you should register for, go to the AIBS site and browse the membership category and/or certification links. You will see the requirements. You can then register for the membership category you qualify for, currently, by completing the online registration form provided.
Next, pay your first year subscription fee into the African Institute of Business Simulations Account using the Institute’s Bank(s) details provided on the website. You may also pay online using your debit or credit card.
When we see your payment, we will confirm your membership and send you a New Member Welcome Pack by email. Subsequently, you will receive your Induction Preparation Pack. Your membership certificate will be presented to you at a scheduled induction ceremony of which you will be notified.
Certification is different. You first have to become a member, take our online business simulation courses or attend scheduled live courses, get inducted and then take the related computer business simulation exam(s) to be certified. Registration + Payment + Courses + Induction = Full Membership Full Membership + BizSim XM = Certification
How can I start an AIBS Chapter in my locality?
To start a chapter you need to first be a member of the AIBS. To become a member, please visit the site and browse the membership and certification links.
All the information you need: membership categories, online registration form and payment requirements and process are all there.
Once you’ve joined, send us a formal request to start a chapter including your reasons for wanting to do so and whether the chapter you have in mind is a Student or Professional Chapter. We will then send you the requirements for starting a chapter.
How can I become a volunteer of the AIBS?
To become a volunteer, go to the site (www.theaibs.org) look out for the Volunteer link, you will see the requirements and registration form which you should complete.
You can also browse the donation link at the top right hand corner of the website and see the areas of interest in which volunteers may be involved. Feel free to indicate other volunteer areas of personal interest not listed.
What are the benefits of being an AIBS Member?
For benefits of being a member of the AIBS, go to the website (www.theaibs.org) look out for the membership link, you will see membership benefits for the various categories.
How can my membership of AIBS help advance my professional career?
There are many ways by which membership of the AIBS can advance your career
1) Our business simulation courses can help you develop your strategic thinking, leadership and execution skills faster. Most managers are strong in operational thinking and only a few are strong in strategic thinking which is why in a merit driven environment it is just this few that must rise to the top.
2) One of the key resources you need to leverage if you want to advance your career rapidly is to cultivate a growing web of quality relationships or networks. Another name for this is social capital. You can only do this through being part of the right kind of organisations within and outside your industry. What you know must be leveraged by who you know.
3) The simulations are not just a new way to learn, they are also a new way to teach. If you are thinking of becoming a certified business simulations trainer in future, well, then you can say your opportunity just opened up to you.
4) Again, if you are entrepreneurial, who says you can't become a business simulations product franchisee starting with your AIBS Membership.
