About Us

The African Institute of Business Simulations (AIBS) is a not-for-profit organization limited by guarantee. The AIBS’ activities in Nigeria are approved by the Federal Ministry of Education. Its establishment is borne out of the need to expand the opportunities available to young people and enterprising small business owners to contribute to social problem solving and wealth creation in Africa by applying innovative thinking and tools.

The AIBS seeks to accomplish the above goal by helping:

Schools / Professors

  1. Acquire the physical, technology and knowledge resources to provide practice-based business skills training to their students using simulations and related interactive learning tools.

Students:

  1. Gain access to the use of physical and technology resources supportive of practice-based business skills learning and competency building using simulations.
  2. Gain access to work, business and life readiness development programs using practice-based business simulations and interactive learning tools.
  3. Take advantage of a collaborative virtual platform to jointly use simulations technology supported analytical and creative thinking processes to tackle environmental, social, economic and educational problems facing Africans.

Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

  1. Access subsidized practice and applications based business skills training using simulations to support the growth and contribution of their businesses to the wealth building process.

The concept of the AIBS, a brainchild of IRIS Consulting came out of our experience of recruiting fresh tertiary schools’ graduates for clients and from providing business skills training to SMEs.

Most business graduates lack practice-based skills linkable to the needs of real world businesses. Most graduates of other disciplines lack basic economic and commercial awareness necessary to play as contributors in organizations operating in a 21st century market place. Unemployability has therefore been a bigger problem for more than 60% of new tertiary schools system graduates in Nigeria.

SMEs, the growth engine and key employment generators of any economy are also in dire need of practice and applications based business skills training. They however lack the financial resources to pay for such training and so stay away from them thus limiting their ability to contribute fully to wealth creation in the continent.
